PFV DOORS AT SEA French Institute IFREMER has carried out several trials at sea on the research vessel Gwen Drez to compare the PFV trawl doors with old kinds of classical doors. This movie confirms the excellent performances of the Morgère PFV trawldoors : a great stability and a strong efficiency to reduce the drag force while still performing a good wake effect. APRIL 2008 : FISHING GEARS TRIALS CARRIED OUT BY SKIPPERS Huge fuel savings with Morgere trawl doors has been recently validated by a study funded by the Regional Fisheries Committee of Britanny, in the partnership with the research organisation Ifremer. The results are very positive for the PFV trawl doors provided by Morgère: nearby 20 % of saving in fuel, and a stronger spreading force compared to classical doors. Only by the fuel saved it is at least "a profitable investment within three months for my vessel" confirms the skipper, who bought these PFV doors upon completion of the trials. . MARCH 2008 : A NEW DOOR FOR PRAWN FISHING The "Omega" door has been especially designed for coastal trawlers carrying out prawn fishing, as within the scottish and Irish seas.
THREE NEW SHAPES OF DOORS ARE BORN IN 2007 The “Ovalfoil 2” (OF 2), the “PFV 2” and the “SPF” are the result of cutting-edge research with flow management software in order to optimize the hydrodynamics of trawl doors. The new forms obtained were then validated by trials at sea. A larger opening, increased stability and further reduced consumption resulting from their design and weak angle of attack: these doors are giving excellent results.
